Trigger Point Injections

What is a Trigger Point Injection?

Trigger points are areas where muscle spasms have formed “knots” in muscle or fascia tissue. A trigger point injection is an outpatient procedure where medication is injected directly into the trigger point for pain relief. Depending on the underlying cause of the trigger point, a single injection may alleviate the problem, while recurring injections may be required to manage chronic pain.

To reduce injection pain, a numbing spray is used. Trigger point injection appointments are outpatient, and the entire procedure takes only minutes to perform. Side effects are rare and may include post-injection pain or fat shrinkage near the injection site.
