Jorge Leal, MD

Dr. Jorge Leal, a pain management physician with the Florida Pain Relief Group, has over three decades of experience managing patients’ pain.

He got his start in the field academically when he began his residency in anesthesiology at the State University of New York before continuing his career in Florida. He’s held several appointments in anesthesiology and pain management and has operated a private practice in pain management since 2005.

Jorge Leal, M.D., a pain management physician with the PPOA Tampa – Habana practice, has been in the field of Pain Medicine since 1984, after he graduated from the Department of Anesthesiology at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New
York.

After completing a year of fellowship training there in Pain Medicine, he joined the faculty as an instructor in Pain Medicine. Subsequently he became the assistant professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and co-director of the pain treatment center.

Dr. Leal then became the director of the pain treatment center at the University of Mexico School of Medicine from 1989 to 1991. He transitioned into private practice in Hollywood, Fla., from 1992 to 1994.

He then located to Tampa and became assistant professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of South Florida from 1994 until 2000, after which he returned to private practice.

In 2016 he joined Florida Pain Relief Group, now Physician Partners of America Pain Relief Group.

In his free time, Dr. Leal enjoys cycling, recreational boating, golf and woodworking.
